As a museum which is run solely by volunteers, we rely on support from the public for all our normal running costs.

You can support us in several ways:

    • One valuable way you can support us is by coming a Bancroft Volunteer. We have never had any paid staff, everyone you see working at the mill is a Volunteer. Between us we maintain the buildings and site, the engines and the looms, run the Café and Gift Shop, look after visitors and raise funds. If you would like to know more about Volunteering speak to any of our Volunteers on a steaming day or email volunteer@bancroftmill.org.uk
    • by becoming an Associate Member – which gives free admission on Steaming Days and a regular Newsletter. Application form here
    • by visiting on a Steaming Day, buying tea and cake, or buying something at our gift shop

Funding Acknowledgements

Though we rely on income from visitors and donations for our normal running costs we are very grateful for grants which have enabled major projects to take place.

    • The Lancashire Environmental Fund (£15,000 in 2006) which enabled the extension of the building which was to house the Bradley Engine

    • Barnoldswick Town Council (£560 in 2023) for the installation of the Pickles Clock

    • The Association for Industrial Archaeology (£20,000 in 2023) towards the repointing of the chimney
